2022: STIPENDIUM!!

I am very happy: together with the artists Bianca Künzel and Eva Maria Baumeister I will receive the scholarship for female artists with children of the state of NRW in 2022! The seven-member 2-stage expert jury with Elisabeth Stöppler, Andrea Kramer, Petra Barabasch, Stefan Keim, Angie Hiesl, Carena Schlewitt and Richard Siegal has selected three scholarship holders from 36 applications for the scholarship "Präsenz vor Ort - Künstlerinnen mit Kind" in the Performing Arts section. “The Paraguayan-born dancer and choreographer Alejandra Jara (Cologne) moved for many years on the international stage as a dancer. In the meantime she has been working as a choreographer for many years and convinced the jury with her choreographies, dance films and video works with her technical virtuosity and diversity. The core of her work is about the emotional expressiveness of the body, about turning away from the world and towards inwardness. Alejandra Jara positions herself against a purposefulness of art, she focuses entirely on the body and the development of a dance and choreographic emotional language. With incredible passion Alejandra Jara dedicates herself to this radicality of expression, thus shifting and questioning the classical boundaries of dance and ballet”.

“Die in Paraguay geborene Tänzerin und Choreografin Alejandra Jara (Köln) bewegte sich viele Jahre auf internationalem Parkett als Tänzerin. Mittlerweile ist sie langjährig als Choreografin tätig und überzeugt die Jury mit ihren Choreografien, Tanzfilmen und Videoarbeiten mit ihrer technischen Virtuosität und Vielfältigkeit. Im Kern ihrer Arbeit geht es um die emotionale Ausdrucksfähigkeit des Körpers, um die Abwendung von der Welt und Hinwendung zur Innerlichkeit. Alejandra Jara positioniert sich gegen eine Zwecksetzung von Kunst, sie konzentriert sich ganz auf den Körper und die Entwicklung einer tänzerischen und choreografischen Gefühlssprache. Mit unglaublicher Leidenschaft widmet sich Alejandra Jara dieser Radikalität des Ausdrucks, verschiebt und hinterfragt somit die klassischen Grenzen von Tanz und Ballett”
